Just a few years ago most people didn’t even know what "gluten" was, much less why some had to avoid it in food. For those faced with a gluten-free diet then, there were very few products available, and the taste and quality of them was pretty much debatable. But this is quickly changing, and Spec’s has searched and found foods that are not only gluten-free but quite delicious. We carry over 200 gluten-free products in our Smith Street Superstore.
Our deli buyer was especially happy to have discovered Udi’s Gluten-Free bakery. Several years ago, Udi’s Certified Master Baker was asked by a friend with celiac disease to create good-tasting gluten-free bread. Unimpressed with what was on the market, White was determined to create superior gluten-free bread solely for Udi’s.
Among our favorites are their muffins, Lemon Streusel and Blueberry, a perfect way to jump-start your day. They are unbelievably moist and just the right amount of sweetness. Warm in the oven or microwave for just a bit and you’ll think you just walked out of a bakery. Four to a pack. And try their bagels, cinnamon rolls, white and whole grain breads, even gluten-free pizza crusts! All of their products are wonderful, so stay tuned to see what else they’ve got cookin’.

As The Pendulum Swings
by Charles M. Bear Dalton
"What goes around comes around." The wine pendulum continues to swing. If you’ve been drinking wine long enough, you remember the contradicting trends. As a wine lover and as a wine industry observer, it’s fun to watch but sometimes it is all a bit frustrating...
