Just walking into our Smith Street Superstore, you’ll immediately take in the sight and aromas of freshly baking bread. Yes, freshly baking. We’ve added a Toasty Baking oven to our other wonderful offerings, much to the delight of our customers and especially our employees, who line up in the morning to get some of the hot, fruit-filled turnovers. Every day we offer our staples: Rustic Olive Loaves, French Baguettes, Herbed Foccacia, Ciabatta Bread, Croissants, Multigrain Loaves and Turnovers. Sometimes we throw in a little something special to see how our customers like it.

And if you don’t feel like slaving in a hot kitchen when you get home, just pick up one of our roasted chickens with your fresh baked bread, and a side dish or two from our Ready Rabbit case. Add a bottle of wine and dinner is done!

89pts – Wine Advocate

The grapes for this new project were sourced from 60- to 80-year-old vines whose already low yields were reduced an additional 70% by the weather conditions of the vintage. A glass-coating opaque purple, remarkably deep for a wine of this price, made from Garnacha, the wine offers a nose of brooding black cherry and blueberry. Concentrated, ripe, and balanced on the palate, this flavorful, lengthy effort will drink well over the next four years. It is an outstanding value.

  A Matter of Taste

by Charles M. Bear Dalton

Over the last three weeks I have heard essentially the same question asked by three different sources. The question is “What do you look for when you taste a wine?” Let me note that I have written about the procedure of tasting and even a bit about the physiology of tasting before. But none of that is my focus here. Whether your taste correlates with mine or not, the same rule applies; start with fruit and let the rest come to you.

At long last Spain has a World Cup Victory! As you can imagine, this is personally thrilling for me as a passionate Spain aficionado.

  Good Ol’ Beers
 by Joey Williams

People always seem to think that because
we’re around the drink all day every day that we have somehow moved beyond enjoying a simple beverage. Well, I’m here to tell you that at closing time on any given night at the Smith Street Spec’s, you can find people from the wine department, the deli, the liquor department, the cashiers and the beer department crowding around the three door cooler in our beer department where we keep the 16 ounce cans of budget brand domestic beer.
